Has anyone got a ballast resistor???
Discussion
As Le TVR points out....
The ballast resistor looks just like a single thick wire with bullet connectors at each end. It is often tie wrapped to the upper chassis rail on the LHS of the engine. Sometimes it is coiled, sometimes not...
and I removed it and obviously need to put it back. Can anyone help (Norman???)

Just looking through 'ballast resistor' on ebay it looks to me that the resistors used for the dashboard lighting dimmer setting are ballast resistors - anyone got one spare? From what I make out it should be 1.5-1.6 ohms. I took mine off but can't remember what I did with them - if I can find one I'll send it.

The term 'ballast resister' is a general term for the electric arrangement of a resister in series to limit the supply current. It's like shopping for a 'light bulb'. There are plenty around, but you need to get the right power and resistance characteristics in order to work right. You can't assume that the ballast resister for the dashboard lights is the same as the ballast resister for the ignition coil. (They might happen to be the same, but I wouldn't bet on it.)Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
