Dust/Artifact in viewfinder.

Since ive had my camera ive noticed a speck of dust or something just outside one of the AF points in my viewfinder. Today the strap got caught around a handle and camera fell out of my hands and my nifty fifty jumped out of the casing (managed to get it back in and no damage can be seen aesthetically or in images taken) and i noticed another larger speck of dust visible on the viewfinder.

These artifacts arent seen in photos taken with the camera, do not matter on lens on camera as they show on all my lenses. What are they and how can i get rid of them?

Most likely crap in the viewfinder. You could probably fix it yourself, but equally you could probably stuff it up as well.

It's cleanable, just needs sending off. Cost would be around £60 from experience, and tell them you dont want a sensor clean, unless you actually want a sensor clean as well

I took the lens of and held the body upside down while looking in with a torch and could see a little bit of dust or a hair on the viewfinder plate bit above the mirror. A careful bit of blowing (ooh er) and managed to get rid of it!

Giottos make a fantastic tool called a Rocket Blower, which can be used instead of blowing into the camera and inadvertently blowing spittle onto sensitive optical bits. Bitter experience talking..
