Car pic ideas

I know that some of you guys get some cracking statics of cars so just after some advice.

My MD asked me yesterday if I would mind taking some pictures of himself and his two sons with their cars outside our work premises sometime. I'm quite keen as I spend so long trying to think of stuff to take shots of that's its quite nice when somebody gives you a subject to work with.

If it helps, the cars in question are: a blue Z4, a Red Mito and a gun metal Jag XJ.

Just after some ideas for angles, arrangements etc... Also, some tips on what time of day to take these. I won't be using flash so will be relying on sunshine. Sun behind me, my best bet?

I do have ideas for a couple of shots, but they're likely to be somewhat cliched. I've not got the most inspiring backdrop to work with either.

Verging on tumbleweed on here huh!

Well I'll stick my 2penneth in! If it's outside an office do you have a window you could take the picture out of, i.e. looking down on the cars? Just thinking it might be an option and if the surroundings are typically workpalce-ish then maybe cluttered. View from above could help cut all that out, park them in some nice layout and you could get a nice pic.

This was a random picture I took out of my work window with my iPhone and the concrete floor worked quite well, apart from the bin wheel that crept into shot but hey ho! I then tinkered with the picture on my PS Mobile app, all good entertainment.

Maybe take early in the day or later in the evening when the sun & reflections aren't so blinding.

Thanks MiniDiva. That's a fine looking Exige. I remember your orange one from LM a few years back. Love the green though.

Anyhoo, nice idea for the aerial shots. I just had a look this morning, and there isn't actually a window that opens over the car park however I did have another brain wave. We have a fork lift with a 5m lift and man lift cage so I could use that to get up nice and high.

Thought I may do a staggered side on shot as well on a long zoom to shift perspective a little.

Trying to figure something out with mirrors as well.....

I like that idea of the fork lift, definitely give it a go.
Remember to have the sun in front of you so the shadow of the fork lift doesnt cast on the cars.
I did a shot of a Noble last weekend looking down on it and I think it works quite well.

Would be even better if I wasn't in the rear window of the GTO... Don't think I was really in a position to ask them to move it a bit for me though
