Tilt-Shift a new "IN" technique?

I see it more and more on the telly. I'm watching "60 years of F1" on BBC Four at the moment and there's so much of tilt-shift being used.

Has anyone else noticed that?

Cant stand the effect to be honest, looks a bit too gimmicky for my liking.

I do want a Tilt-shift lens though, but for perspective control.

It was fashionable here, for the 'look it's a model' effect, about three years ago IIRC!

At that level it's the thinking man's HDR but as mentioned it has other more serious uses. Shift controls perspective and Tilt tilts the plane of focus.

I've just purchased a 24mm PC-E, awesome bit of kit.
