I was justing reading an artcile on Zeis Cine lenses, and stumbled across this image- check out the wee beastie!:



Last paragrpah says:

'its a one off Zeiss Apo Sonnar 1700mm T4 - 15 optical elements in 13 groupes, with electronic tempertaure compenation and a special vehicle to move it.'

The article metions it as an anecdote, theres no more infoation- I wonder what on earth it was made for?? and how much it cost?

I'm fairly sure that with that beast I could sit in my house and take pictures of wild game hunting their prey on the serengeti.

AFIk it was a one off for a middle east prince or something, weighs 250kgs...
