HD Video recorder

Hello! Finally decided it's time to get an HD camcorder, one that records to a solid-state card. I'd be lookng to get it from duty free ideally...

What's good out there? I'd want vibration stability (video on track), mounting ability (ditto), and maybe some hard protection for it (spash-proof, drop-proof etc).

If it is mainly for the puspose of tarckdays, sports etc, then IMO the best you can go for is the GoPro.

They do a motorsport package, that includes a suction mount for bodywork, plus a selection of other mounts, with roll bar mounts also available.

The GoPro comes in a waterproof housing (i have taken mine down to 30m snorkelling/diving) and the latest release from gopro is a rear LCD screen that fits in a new housing and is fully waterproof etc.

Just go on Youtube to look at the quality of the recordings...

It's not just for that, but will be used for that.... It will aslo act as the normal, boring family camcorder...

(I would have a look at the videos, but my youtube has buggered itself....)

yea.... my youtube isnt plying any videos today either weirdly.

Well, the gopro is great for sports especially trackdays and motorsport, but may not be ideal as an everyday camera as it is so small, and has no zoom etc.

Can't help any more than that im afraid!
