large zoom bridge camera...

treating myself for my 40th, what do you think of either of these?

like the idea of the screen on the canon (our old canon point and shoot had this, and is very useful sometimes) the screen on the fujifilm does fold out, but not as versatile

fujifilm operates more like a dslr, manual zoom. probably not going to use it enough to justify a dslr, and won't enjoy humping lenses round! i know it won't be as good as a dslr, but they'll both be better than my old 4mp 3x zoom canon!


any alternatives must be available from the above retailer, as i've got a voucher to spend!

I got this one for Christmas,not as powerful zoom as the Fuji but more pixels.I've managed some decent pics with plus it's £30 cheaper.

When I got my FZ18 it was one of the best in class for image quality and had one of the least amounts of Chromatic Aberration.
If I remember rightly the Lumix range use quite good lenses, and have manual controls too if you even want to use them. I would definitely buy one again if I didnt want an SLR.

fz45 was another one i looked at, but like the proper manual of the fuji, you rotate the zoom by hand like a dslr.

Those are the 3 that I looked at before Christmas. I went for the FZ45 because it got universally good reviews, and the other two got variable ones. Also it's more compact than the Fuji and I particular wanted something easier to carry around than my SLRs. If you prefer the manual zoom then the Fuji is probably the best for you.

ok, today i went and bought the fujifilm hs10, case, card and some 2700mah cells

used the alkaline cells in the camera kit to have a play around and i'm very happy


slight issue, when testing the macro, frank the guinea pig has had a quick nibble! no damage done as far as i can see. to either party!

off to beauliea monday, so will take a few, then open a flickr account
