Canon 550D and Ebay

So, having bored the ass off every assistant in Jessops between here and Bristol, I have decided on the above camera to get me started.

Now on Camera Price Buster today, the best price is about £580 yet on Ebay there are many with a zoom lens for a few quid more. Click

Is this really a good deal or would I be better off buying from somewhere 'known'? Are these genuine cameras with crap lenses or dodgy imports or both? Or just a scam?

Seems loads on Ebay, they aren't all duff are they?

I think they are legit, well some are. They are purchased from China etc and shipped over. So can be cheaper.

Use paypal and a credit card and if its a no show, pull the transaction!

It looks like it's a grey import meaning a) it's badged "Kiss X4" not "550D" and b) the warranty is with the seller, not Canon.

So effectively, no warranty if it goes wrong?

Like a Eunos as opposed to a MX-5?

Well, it says it comes with a one year warranty and I don't know anything specific to suggest they wouldn't honour it and that it would be as good as the Canon warranty. However, my attitude would be to treat it as if it doesn't have a warranty and take anything else as a bonus.

If you want those lenses, and by most accounts they are pretty good for the money, it appears to be a considerable saving though.
