wireless flash...

Spotted these on Amazon, just wondering - is cheap automatically bad? which looks best (having no clue about these things, other than I wanted to remote trigger my flash last week and couldn't...)

I have something similar of ebay which I have used from my 400d through to my 50D and now on my 5D MKII

Aside from needing a new battery, works a treat and has never let me down. I also have a wireless trigger, again from ebay and that's also never failed.

thanks for that. I dunno why but despite all three of those getting good reviews, I get nervous when something I know to be horrifically expensive from some places is just about affordable to me LOL

Try the Cactus V4 or V5 triggers from

I have the V4s and they have been trouble free

Some folks rate the Yongnuo RF602, others the CT301P triggers

it really is a case of how much you need to have rock solid reliability (Pocket Wizards = Re-mortgage your house) or generally reliable which is every type in between

PT04s, RF 602s, CT301P, Radio Poppers, Cactus V4 & V5 ...........ad infinitum

i run skyports for shoots! great value and have worked pretty damn well!

depends what camera and body you can use wireless cls with nikon or get a canon radio trigger

I've got RF602s which work well and can also be used as a wireless shutter release, I use them when shooting landscapes and it is too cold to have my hands out of my pockets to use a wired release

Another vote here for RF602s. Very well built, have been totally reliable and never misfired on me yet. With them doubling as a remote shutter release they are fantastic value.

I'd avoid the CT-04 or similar construction units. I originally had that style but the L bracket at the base of the receiver would always slip with the weight of a flash gun fitted and they are susceptible to breaking at that point too.

Having just a lot of fun playing with the camera, it struck me I really do want an off camera flash capability so they're going in the basket in the morn.
