35mmCanon SLR lenses (EOS 1000FN) compatable with EOS D-SLR?

my only new years resolution is to use my D-SLR more. Won't be hard tbh as I've had it over a year and used it 3 times, the compact always wins due to convenience.
but now I want to step up a gear, so going to get my teeth into the newer one

I have a few lenses from my old 35mm EOS 1000FN

will these lenses work ok with the newer camera (EOS 1000D)?

Should be fine i think, being an EOS camera it should have the EF mount. Do the lenses start with EF?
e.g EF 50mm 1.8?

You might not have full fuctionallity though, might have to do some things manually, but this may depend on the age of the lenses.

When I moved to digital, I found that my old Canon EF lenses worked fine, but the Sigma ones didn't. Sigma were, at that time at least, upgrading the firmware in some lenses to make them work, or offering a trade-in on those that couldn't be upgraded. In my case I traded in 2 lenses and sold the other on ebay.

update for anyone finding themselves in the same situation


I got the old gear out of the Loft this afternoon while putting the Christmas decorations away....tried them on the 1000D and yes they all work fully, including the AF function on all lenses

Theres very little in the EF/EOS world from canon that wont work on digital.

Some stuff (the new III TC's) wont work on film bodies tho.
