Unable to open Nikon Raw CS2?

Shot in Raw for the first time tonight, any ideas why I can't open them in photoshop cs2?

They are described as NEF files if that helps

edit - can view in windows photo viewer now but still won't open in CS2

Ur likely using a newer camera. Camera Raw (Adobes plug in for raw images) only supports certain raw images, if you are using and old version of camera raw you likely cannot open your raw images (Dang Nikon keeps changing the format). When Adobe comes out with a new version of photoshop, they stop making the camera raw plug-in for the old versions, so updating camera raw might fix the problem, but you probably need to update to a newer version of photoshop.

Yeah I downloaded the raw plug in for CS2 which said it supported D90 but no avail.

Copy of Elements 9 will be waiting for me to install when I get home, will see where that gets me.

With an older (meaning when it first came out) D90 you can get away with CS3, but all the new ones require CS4.

If you're stuck with a 'new' camera and an older version of Photoshop, then there is a free download from Adobe for a RAW converter utility. This lets you batch convert RAW files to DNG files, which can then be opened by older versions of Photoshop whilst keeping all the benefits of RAW. It does mean another step in the workflow, but saves you shelling out on new software straight after buying a new camera. I used it for a while before eventually upgrading to Lightroom 3.
