Bag fillers for Christmas?

My brother is into his photography so for Christmas I figured I'd get him some small bits and pieces to go into his bag to complement his existing kit. He's part of a university photography society, doing a lot of event photography for gigs and parties, and just generally taking photos around town. His current bag includes:

Canon 50D with Battery Grip and standard neck strap
Canon 28-135mm (with EW-78BII hood) - kit lens for the above I think
Canon 70-200mm f/4 L (with ET-74 hood)
Canon Speedlite 430EX
72mm Polarising Circular filter
Tripod
Monopod

He's recently also got into old film cameras from eBay but I don't know much about what he's doing with them.

I was thinking about a cable release and I've also seen a link on here to camcorder-style hand straps, which I think could be very useful for handheld shots at gigs. Has anyone got more suggestions for up to £30 that might complement the above?

Its a tad over budget but its a great it of kit. I bought myself one a while ago.
It works as a wireless flash trigger from the camera, but also as a remote shutter release.

Get him something more comfortable (Optech etc) to replace the Canon strap and he'll love you forever!

A Lenspen would be useful, great bit of kit for a fiver or so.

I've got Yongnuo RF602s which are a chinese equivalent, very good, seem great quality (not quite Pocketwizard but at a 10th of the price of PW) and are about £25-30 a set!

Photographers are funny lot and know exactly what they want/need, so it could be safer to just ask him what he wants/needs.
