Anyone know roughly how long the Stellar Xtreme battery should retain a charged state? In other words what is the battery self discharge rate in % per day?
It's new, as is the head, and fully charged according to the instructions.
If I charge it overnight and don't use it it looses the ability to charge the flash head after just a few days and requires a long recharge - I lost a shoot because of it. Not what I was hoping for!
Batteries loose say 1% of their charge/day. I seem to be getting 10%/day. Is that absymal performance to be expected or there is a battery problem?

Nope nothing on the unit to state what's inside and its sealed so I loose warranty if I open it..

Typically, among rechargeable batteries, lithium batteries suffer the least amount of self-discharge (around 2–3% discharge per month), while nickel-based batteries are more seriously affected by the phenomenon (nickel cadmium, 15–20% per month; nickel metal hydride, 30% per month).
So I'm seeing discharge rates in days rather than months. :-(

NiMH batteries are not great at holding charge but it certainly sounds like a duff one.
FWIW I have an ancient Metz 60CT unit with a 'Dry Fit' battery that is probably the original (Dunno, I bought the kit used about 3 years ago). Last year I bought a third party second Dry Fit battery to suit - just in case. They both seem to hold their charge with little drop off when stored for extended periods. Just wish I had more cause to use them.
