A few pics from Zolder, FIA GT3

Spent some time at Zolder this weekend, watching the FIA GT3 racing. There don't seem to be many spots to take pictures from (seems like high catch-fencing all the way round ), but access to the pitlane building gave a new perspective to have fun with! Since I didn't get all the way round the circuit I might have missed some vantage points, but I'll go back sometime early next year. Hopefully the weather/light will be just as good!

Thanks, it was good to just go somewhere new....much as I love Brands Hatch and Goodwood, they're starting to get a bit stale for me now (from a photography point of view).

Tim, there's always the challenge of Silverstone to consider.

With an 800mm lens and 2x Extender you should be able to find somewhere to get close enough to the action to shoot something similar to your last image (the one with the industrial backdrop). Always providing you don't mind having to do some quite severe cropping of course.

I love the one of the Jag in the woods and have tried (and failed) to get similar shots before in the past.
Come clean, how many attempts did it take to get it

Yes I have been to Silverstone, but not with a camera....I think the 'bigger' the circuit, the worse it is for photography sadly Also smaller events are often not too busy, so you can move freely and get to the best vantage points without treading on someone who's parked their deckchair there for the day...

Thanks, let's just say I'm glad a lap of Zolder doesn't take too long in a Belgian touring car, since I really wanted that shot with the Jag - I got a few sharper ones with other cars, but a Volvo pouncing from the woods doesn't really have the same impact As ever, you need luck, time, and/or a large memory card to get those kind of shots!
