Hi all. I recently purchased a Nikon D5000 and also bought the Magic Lantern D5000 book.

That book is excellent for getting to know the camera but I would like a more general beginners book on composing pictures and methods for achieving certain effects ets...

Anybody have any recommendations? There is way too much choice!

A very well put together book and one which is recommended all the time on here.

As for composition, you could try "The Photographers Eye" by Michael Freeman.
