help please

I am looking to buy an slr, I have limited knowledge and have a budget of about £700, something ideally that will work for sports/action photos

Any suggestions ?

What sports/action ( indoors/outdoors, distance to subject etc)?

Does the budget have to include a lens too - considering these can be up to several thousand £ for a 'good' sports prime..

Off the back I would say a used canon 40D and a sigma 70-200f2.8 may fit in budget, or 70-300 IS canon.

I'd steer clear of all the lower end new bodies as ergonomics and perfomace lack a bit for sport.

motorsport, football etc - I am using a canon digital at moment and its ok if the subject is stationary but crap if they move, too slow.
Just want an amateur good spec upgrade really

well even the older entry level ones will kick the crap out of any P&S but I still think a xxD line (used or new) is the best value sports SLR around (asuming the 60D comes in at a whack under the D7000!).
