Apparently Sigma are releasing one next year for about £1500

Nice to see they haven't jumped on the video bandwagon!
Considering they can reverse engineer Canon/Nikon kit to produce lenses which fit those bodies, you'd think they would have the capability to go in the other direction and produce their bodies with a capability to support potential purchasers' existing Canon/Nikon lenses, wouldn't you?
Presumably it would incline Canon/Nikon towards taking legal action though.

Sigma don't make cameras with other peoples mounts for the same reason you can't buy a D3 with an EOS mount. Sigma lenses are electrically compatible with EOS lenses already, you only need swap the mount plate and contact block and EOS becomes SA mount.
In terms of resolution, comparing sigma pixels to conventional pixels is like comparing oranges to rubiks cubes. The SD1 will be able to produce prints as good as conventional dslrs with at least 30-35MP, that's about the only comparison you can make.
