I know there is a similar thread running but this is specifically for pro insurance. I've been with Photo-Shield for four or five years now and was wondering if anyone on here could recommend an alternative insurance company to me. The only company I can think of is Hiscox. My equipment is valued at £12K and I have £5,000,000.00 public liability insurance. The premium is coming out at £325.40 plus £50.00 admin charge. Naturally I am looking to reduce my premium.

Emma, I know it's not specialist pro photography insurance but interestingly, speaking to NFU today, they include PLI in their home insurance. As a comparison to your quote, it may be worth asking them. Otherwise, I'm sure some pro-togs will answer.

That's interesting. Unfortunately my home insurance runs until Jan 11. I think that it would not be suitable for me as I need to cover equipment in transit. I'll bear that in mind though for future reference.

I insured with Aaduki this year (http://www.aaduki.com/) for £6k of equipment and £5M PLI which specifically includes trackside cover. Cost was about £175 all in, but my premium might be lower as photography is a hobby, rather than a source of income.

Only a little bit more for me on pro terms with PL and PI. I also added employers liability as I've asked others to shoot with/ for me on occasions - cover includes their gear within the overall kit valuation although for me that's a bit lower than the OP's

Hi Emma

I've had the same policy for over ten years, and a series of company ownership and name changes means that they're now called Towergate.

Last time I looked around they were competitive for me, but I've got quite a lot of cover. Only had to claim once (on the sickness/accident part of the policy) which was fairly simple, and their telephone response has always been good.

I found Aaduki very quick and easy to deal with.

As I said on the other thread, I've used Glover and Howe for years. Full professional cover, PLI, professional indemnity cover, £24k of kit, theft from vehicle cover, UK only but up to 20 days worldwide included too, and it comes in about £600. There's discounts for various professional associations too (CPS for instance).

I have been with Glover & Howe for a few years. Not had to claim, so can't comment there.
