Took the ankle biters up to Aberdeenshire again this year. Weather not as good as it was last year but we had a good time nonetheless.

Some random shots over the week...

Me bruvver's house on the Devron river near Huntly

Some old ruin on the road to Huntly

Bales of straw/hay/marijuana

Baby Highland Cooooo

Ubiquitous Rosebay Willowherb

Horrible wind turbines near Banff

Fungarse

Dolphin at Spey Bay

My eldest with the biggest catch of the day, a small ling.

My youngest happily gutting one of the two mackerel we caught (there appear to be no fish in the Moray Firth!)

Flying seachicken

Wee boaties in Banff Harbour

Small person playing in the sand at Portsoy Harbour

On the beach at Gardenstown. Nice beach, wetsuits essential...

Fyvie Castle

Back door at Fyvie Castle

Lake at Fyvie Castle

Boathouse on lake at Fyvie Castle

Feeding the ducks near the boathouse on the lake at Fyvie Castle

Duck!

Mr and Mrs Swan and the Sawnlets hove into view (on the lake near the boathouse at Fyvie Castle)

Swanlet

Mr (or possibly Mrs, I didn't ask or look) Swan

Up in the hills along the Findhorn Valley

Itty bitty stream burbling down into ther Findhorn (saw dippers, had wrong camera)

Lichen on rocks in the Findhorn Valley

Bridge over the Livet

Ruins of a house called Haddo near my bruvver's. Scottish Heritage declared it as being undouppable 6 years ago, which is a tragedy

Tree growing in the middle of the house

Italian style front door

Wrought iron orangerie/gazebo/wotevvah

On the jast day me bro took us to the Deveron at Forglen to see if we could find some red squirrels, as he often sees them there while fishing. No squirrels, but we bumped into a notter, which was a nice way to end the holiday for me and the kids...

Did you have a look inside Haddo?, I have seen some pictures from the inside before not much left but still looks interesting. Might take a look up someday as I plan to check out the remains of Ladysbridge Asylum at Banff pretty soon, not that there is much left

I didn't actually go inside as such ...Mole... It looks pretty dodgy to be honest, and I had my children with me. The roof has gone on 90% of the building, as have most of the floor joists. There are still the remnants of some architectual features inside - some ornate plasterwork near the front entrance, some wooden pannelling etc. The front door is still there. It's at least 10ft tall. There's lots of ironmongery still floating about. I've got some more piccies if you want them?
