As the title, really. Are any of the photo storing sites (photobucket/flickr etc.) better or worse than the others? I've finally got my hands on a decent point and shoot camera and would like to be able to put pics on the internet so I can share them. Do they all compress the pictures, or will they be stored as 12MP?

Also, are they all easy to use when linking pictures to PH?

Thanks.

Google?

If you install Google Picasa on your PC you can manage your images, and store them in a web album on Google's servers.

You can also share / link to them.

Photobucket is great, IMO.

Easy to use, good range of privacy settings and always load fats when linked to.

And if you will be web-linking to your album a lot (>10Gb per month bandwidth), $20 a year for their Pro account is pretty good value too.

You really don't want to put them up at full resolution. There's absolutely no need.

http://www.webshots.com ? Not to be confused with cumshots.com. Speaking of which, you can't put any risqué pics up on webshots, even innocent ones eg pics of your gf in a bikini. I tried to upload a pic of your gf in a bikini and they sent me a message saying it wasn't allowed.

I'd recommend Dropbox, 2gb free as standard, up to 8gb free.

It's not designed for photos (i.e. doesn't show as a gallery, shows like a windows folder does) but it's simple and quick.

I took out a cheap web hosting package with Heart Internet and create my own albums. Much more flexible.

My son does excellent value hosting packages.

Oops - just realised this might contravene T&C's here.

PM me if you're interested. Starting from £1.34 per month.

And there's plenty of excellent free gallery software out there, on which to host your pictures.
