PS Processing Batch
Discussion
I shot a load of images today (1000+) that I need to produce JPGs of, so the workflow would be:
Correct white balance (due to different temp lights)
Slight curves adjust
Noise reduce
Sharpen
Resize (1000px wide)
Sharpen
Save as JPG
What is the best way to do this in Photoshop, I know lightroom would probably be better but I don't have that. (The title was supposed to say batch processing, doh!)

The "final" images won't be 1000px wide, these are just thumbnails for the marketing guy to browse. And I shoot RAW so I can have total control over the final image, couple of the lights I was using were different temps and in different positions for each shot so I need to be able to correct WB.
I may have misinterpreted something, but if the marketing guy chooses one of the 1000px images, you'll have to make it again from the RAW guessing all the adjustments again (assuming he wants a full size JPG to use).
How about processing all the RAWs to full size JPGs, then batch resize them to 1000px so you have both sizes of every image?

I would be tempted to skip most of the WB correction - do some examples to prove what you can deliver and forget the rest until the client culls the shots to a managable number.
But thern it all depends on what you were shooting and how the client is going to follow up.
I assume you nee to do the WB adjustment locally in some parts of the image and not others.

Assuming your camera is supported, you can batch process RAW files in PS Camera Raw.
Open all the files you want to process at once, Camera Raw will open.
Edit the first file, correct WB apply sharpening, curves noise RD etc.
Shift click to select the other files you wish to apply setting too.
Click 'Synchronize' button (top left under 'Select all).
Box appears to ask which settings you wish to apply.
Set some basic sizing and output colour space by clicking the blue text in the middle of pane under picture.
Click 'Save images', bottom left.
It's a bit rudimentary and not very pretty. Any adjustments are saved as xmp sidecar files with the original RAWs, so you don't have to do them again. There isn't an accurate output sizing so you couldn't set 1000px wide. Using a D3 file, the smallest preset is 1539x1024. So if you want exactly 1000 wide, it would be better to save them all full res and then run an action for the smaller copies.
As far as I know, Lightroom doesn't support multiple destination and outputs either, so you would have to process the files twice for each resolution. The only app that I'm aware of that does, is Capture One Pro.
Edited to add... I'm not sure how many files CR can open at one time, guess that will be RAM dependant or it may all run like a three legged dog, so maybe better to split them up first. You can also 'save settings' in a little pull out menu on the right hand side a little way below the histogram, then open up another batch, select all of them, 'load settings' and 'save images'. That's of course assuming they need the same adjustments. If you have to edit each image individually, then you are in for a long night. But you can go through them and then click 'Done' (bottom right) and that will save xmp files for each pic adjusted, so you could batch process later if you preferred.
All of the above is using CS3 on mac. Things look a little different on different versions on different platforms so as always, your milage may vary.

They will choose the shots they want from the small jpgs, then they will work straight from the RAWS. I don't have to create any large files. How about processing all the RAWs to full size JPGs, then batch resize them to 1000px so you have both sizes of every image?

Well that's odd; clients over here don't get involved with RAWs! If they can view RAWs and process them one wonders why they don't just take your 1000+ RAW images and do the rest themselves.Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
