In the excitement I fotgot to say.

Finally changed from my bridge to an 'entry level dslr'. Picked me up a D3000, a mate has one and it appears to be the ideal progression step.

This is a great place for a newbie and the 'big boys' will tolerate almost any level of stupid question as I have proved !

thank god! I have been learning for ages now, I didnt want to have the gear but no idea if you know what i mean.

The stupid thing is, I have been struggling to find a good main photography forum i.e. a photography only one if you know what I mean. This one is good, but not much to browse - get what I mean?

Indeed - there's a lot in Carter's 'Random' thread so if you want any help/critique just stick 'em up in there. I have found the regulars very helpful

For optimum battery life your first charge should be at least 48 hours...

While the battery is charging (I'd give it 72 hours to be on the safe side) it gives you an ideal opportunity to read the flat white thing with lots of thin white things in it

I still think some of the best pics on the net are taken by PH togs though.
