I currently have a 300D (it gets me by, even though its a little slow and it needs a good sensor clean but hey I'm a student) and have just been informed by a friend that their dad may be selling his 350D. Is it worth shelling out to buy the 350 over the 300d? And if so, how much would you expect to pay for a good nick second hand one?

Cheers

To be honest unless super cheap you may as well look for a secondhand 450D, I've seen good as new bodies go for ~£300 on TP. For a little more I have seen body + kit lens and sometimes other bits and bobs (cards, spare batteries) too.

One word - no.

The jump to a 450 though is different.

350D will seem like a sports car compared to the 300D. Much faster pic review and faster sustained shooting.

Also more flexable, 300D has very restrictive settings ( like AI servo only in sport, no MLU etc - without a hacked firmware).

But as said the 450D wont be masses more so unless the 350D upgrade is 50-100 quid your likely better off reaching further.

Or even a 400d, cheaper than the 450d and will still be a great jump up from the 300d.
