Organisation & storage

I've tried a few folder systems and storage media - my collection of photo's is still pitifully small and I'm yet to find a catch all method I'm happy with. So how do you store, and more importantly, how do you organise your files and folders?

Copy (not cut) off the card to main storage drive with a folder name inc date and rough approximation of what I was shooting. Copy that folder to the backup then format the card in camera. Point LR at the main storage drive and catalogue with the folder name.

I could do more I guess but it works fine for me
