Discussion
Following on from my previous thread which concluded with me buying a Canon 50D with 17-85 IS lens at the airport, I am now trying to finalise my lens plan.
I was planning on selling the above lens but want to be sure it's the right move.
My second hand options are: Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS which I would compliment with a Tokina 11-16 f2.8
or Canon 24-70 L f2.8 L series with a Canon 10-22
I am favouring the first of these due to the IS and more usable range of the 17-55 and also the great reviews of the Tokina.
However I am also wondering whether a better option might be to stick with my 17-85, add the Tokina and perhaps buy a 50 mm prime.
The reason I would like f2.8 is for indoor work without flash and to get the blurred effect when desired. IS seems like it could be worthwhile in low light.
I would like a telephoto zoom at some stage and as a stop gap bought a second hand 70-210 old EF lens for very little. The quality of the 17-85 seems to be very good at the long end too.
Any thoughts?

I've a 7D, 10-20 , 17-55 and 70-200
I may swap the 10-20 for an 8-16 when it comes out.
The 17-55 is an excellent lens and I chose it over the 24-70 because for me its a more useful focal range (but not for everyone).
Also means I can go for the 8-16 and cover the 17-20mm range, not that you have to cover every mm...
I've not used the 11-16 but from all accounts its the best IQ UWA out there for now, I expect the 8-16 to be stunning though and I personally don't need fast.
BTW also IMO f2.8 is only good for indoor when its brightly lit, anything else you need faster, and that means primes.

Well I've just done a deal on a mint second hand 11-16 as all I hear about it is good. It should arrive on Wednesday. Whilst the 8-16 sounds good, being new it will be a while until the price comes down or it appears on the second hand market so I'm happy with my decision. I'm due to pick up my 17-55 over the weekend too so all I will have to do then in get out there and practice.
I picked up a tripod second hand today as well. All the gear and no idea ;-) (well maybe some idea)
