Bought a 4GB Extreme III SD card from them. Took ages to come and when it did it wasn't in any packaging, just a plastic box/holder. No way of telling if it's new/used/legit/moody. I'm a bit pssd off really. Any thoughts?

I have bought quite a lot with them and never had any problems.

I'd drop them an email and see what they say. May have sent out the incorrect item. Don't panic yet! Always had excellent customer service too!

Did it come in shop-style packaging or just loose in a jiffy bag?

Ordered quite a bit from them, everything has always been in original packaging and sealed/brand new.

I'd drop them an email and see what they say? It could be that they bought a bulk pack, say 25 in a box, and are now selling individually, If thats the case they wont be in the usual blister packs.

You can call Sandisk to check the serial numbers:

SanDisk UK 0207 365 4193

They are always keen to identify fakes so should be able to help you.

Phoned them up and the serial number checks out. But not sure what that proves, all a counterfieter needs to do is copy the serial number from a geniune card.

I tried to call 7dayshop but they dont have a phone number (rolleyes) so I sent an email about my dissatisfaction.

Not sure why this is a valid excuse. Say they bought a Camera+Lens pack, and sold the camera and lense separately in non-descript plain packaging, would you be happy with that?

Depends if the deal was worth it, and the goods arrived as described, undamaged and were legit. smile

People go to 7dayshop because it's cheap - like Ryanair. If you want all the shiny boxes go to somewhere like Warehouse Express.

Quite agree, I've had several CF cards from them all declared in the ad as refurbs & were 100% OK & very cheap.

Their response to me was:

"To achieve the very best selling prices, some products are split from manufacturers packs or multi-packs, and therefore may not arrive boxed."

Still sounds dodgy to me. Tesco achieve the very best prices, but they still send me my CocoPops in a packet. Oh well, I've learnt my lesson. I dont fly Ryanair and I wont be shopping at 7dayshop again.

You get the same product cheaper, what's the problem. If Sandisk or whoever don't like it their problem they should sort it out. Great value for money and always been reliable.

I can fully understand not flying Ryanair but, did you get the product you wanted at the price you were prepared to pay from 7DayShop? If so, where's the issue? If you want the packaging etc, you will pay more. If prepared to pay more, then fine - go somewhere else.

Sorry, not trying to be harsh but "you pays your money, you make your choice" etc.... (or something like that anyway)

Because they dont say on the website that to save money they remove it from packaging, sellotape it to a horse and whip its butt to see if it'll run off in the right direction.

So they came in a protective plastic case (which would have protected it from drops), but due to not having the dressed up cardboard packaging, you won't be buying from them again?

What did you have planned for said packaging?

Their response makes perfect sense to me.

x2!

You need a chainsaw to get into Sandisk packaging anyway! If it genuine Sandisk and unused I'd be happy.

Its just an unusual practice, thats all. And as I said before, they dont advertise this. I buy stuff from ebay too, so I'm not always after something pretty, but I like to know what i'm getting. What if it was for a birthday gift or something?

Ah, but Tesco prices on memory cards don't even get close to 7dayshop's price.

Still, I'm glad you won't be buying from them again as it means there's more chance of the products the rest of us want being in stock! wink

I suppose. Its just that I spent an afternoon surfing ebay looking at SD cards, worrying about stories of fakes, then decided to pay a bit more for a brand new one from a shop, and it ended up arriving in exactly the same way as an ebay one would.
