I am looking for a digital camera suitable for general estate agency work any recommendations, key requirements are:
Tough construction
Wide angle lens 28mm equivalent or better
Fast(ish lens)
Good ISO range
Flash suitbale for room size up to 30'
Good battery life
I was thinking along the lines of the Olympus Camedia 5060 Super Wide, any thoughts appreciated.
Cheers

I've got a pal's Olmpus e-10 at the moment (Phil 'Bassfiend' Harris).. tough as old boots, v fast lens & wide enough, flash not bad either

You could pick one up a e-bay for a few 100

I've got an E10 and I can concurr, it's a beautifully made piece of kit. Metal body etc etc. You can get a Wide Angle converter lens in addition to the standard set up.

It takes AA batteries and Compact Flash cards so it's pretty cheap to run too.

They're coming up on eBay at the moment for around £350. as people are either upgrading to the E20 or the new E1.

Just make sure that if it's a really wide-angle lens, the flash has equal coverage - otherwise you'll get darker edges.

Cheers boys advice taken, currently embroiled in a bidding war on Ebay for an E10.
Hope it's as good as you say because I'm in a 'I will not be beaten' kind of mood.
Right, hows my latest bid doing then?
Cheers

Or get a shiny new one from Amazon? They're keenly priced and you know who you're buying from.

Only problem is that you'll want all the OE accessories.

My latest one arrived yesterday from the US - a corded remore control, how can they justify the £64 price tag in this country?

But it does go with the lenses, batteries, case, battery holder. etc etc. But I would say that ALL of the Olympus gear seems to be beautifully made.

Ahh, the hard to capture dining room is a shot I still deam of bagging but will have to make do with the often imitated lounge shot.

Seriously though, just need the wideangle attachment now and I'm all set.

If you're going for the OE Wide Angle lens then you should be looking for:

WCON-08B

In teh Uk You'll be hard pressed to beat these people on price for the Olympus lenses, I bought the TCON-300 for a third of the cost of other UK sources!! But their web site is crap, but that might just be me and Netcape on my Mac.

www.digitaldepot.co.uk/

Good luck

Tim

edited to add:

Just found this on their web site:

Just how cheap is that for an E20 set up!

Sorry. I only checked their site this morning. The previous 'special' was £1000, and I nearly bought it then.

Feel really guilty now.

The other option, of course, is to buy the whole kit from DigitalDepot, inc. the Wide Lens that you need anyway, the put the E10 back onto Ebay when you get it. Still be quides in I would guess.
