nice pictures, i look forward to seeing the rest. I've been to all the places in your pictures.

The sunny pictures they use to sell the trips to Milford sounds was taken in the 60's.. Im pretty sure its the wettest place on earth at sea level.

I think that distinction goes to Manapouri on the way to Doubtful Sound - seem to recall several metres of rain a year, and it was certainly doing some of it when I visited.

Matt, you're just a "pixel-tease"! (What's the correct derogatory term, folks? scratchchin )

We need more! just whetting my appetite to plan a trip before too many more years go by!

Have you got these hosted elsewhere, perchance?

Love the pics.

I loved the South Island. Fantastic trip.

And the best part was probably the driving:

Although the Mrs was keen to combine her loves of photography and wine at Marlborough.

Thanks for the pics, Matt. They bring back some very happy memories of a road trip we did a few years back through both South and North Islands. NZ is indeed paradise...

Too true, each day I look out at our dirty freezing miserable weather and think of all the holidaymakers splashing about in the Bay of Islands frown

Mind you I suppose in six months the reverse will be partly true. Really need six months in each place... need to find a Kiwi who likes the cold and rain so we can swap houses twice a year nuts

Nice shots smile

Fiordland is indeed the wettest place in the country, Milford Sound averages about 7 metres of rain each year if my memory is functioning correctly.

Did you make it to the West Coast, Fox Glacier etc?
