Copying "film tape" onto digitial disc etc
Discussion
Hi folks
Recently my partners grandmother passed away and her grandfather has some old tapes from 40-50 years ago of his wife (that were used on the old style film projectors)that he was hoping to put onto cd as his projector is broken and I imagine it'd be quite difficult to fix.
Is it possible to transfer images / film from a tape onto cd? I am completely clueless on this as the oldest photography item I've ever used is a disposable camera!
Thanks in advance for your advice, and if you know any companies who are reliable please recommend them too as we don't want the tapes destroyed in the process at an "unknown"
Cheers!

Yes, you could do worse than call this chap, a guy I've know for 20 years: www.telecineguy.com
ETA: video footage would normally be put on DVD, not CD.

You could also check with any local photography-type shops in your area; we're in Warwick and recently had a bag full of cinefilms transferred onto DVD through a little shop called "Sid & Jane's" in town. It was £6 a reel, and they were ready a week after dropping them in. No postage issues with using a local shop too of course.
Hope that helps
