It looks like the 1D is now discontinued, and this is the replacement!!

www.cci.canon.fr/upload/document/122.pdf

It's in French, but the gist of it seems to be:

8.5 Megapixel (28.7 x 19.1 mm CMOS)
1.3 Magnification ratio
8.5 fps shooting speed

Available from April

Apparently there will be an announcement at the PMA show in Feb!

I'd better start saving now!!

I've just pre-ordered one at Park Cameras, it looks absolutely stunning.

Anyone want a slightly used 1D?

One would hope so, given the price. You can buy three or four EOS300Ds for the likely street price, so it had better be spectacular to be worth it.

I notice that they are quoting £3499, and Warehouse Express are saying £3999. Did Park say much about how accurate their price is?

I'm going to wait and see how much it goes for in the States - may be worth taking a trip over there in a few months!

It's a totally different beast to a 300D. Bit like comparing a hot-hatch to a Ferrari.
