Imphoto - anyone tried it?

Anyone with any experience of trying it and thoughts on the results? Seems that Michael Freeman likes it.

I can see its application in camera phones, but does it add value for keen amateur (or pro) 'togs?

Am I reading right - is it just applying an automatic tone curve?

In which case, why cut corners when you can apply bespoke treatment to each image you take? Also - if you have aa particular treatment you apply over and over, actions or something similar is available in most processing software to allow repetitive treatment - if the programme doesn't already have some sort of auto-optimising step.

Arent they just reinventing the wheel.
Designing something that already exists in several forms (ie. cheap free graphics programs) and just touting it as quicker when one click solutions exist already.
