Floor stand for studio lighting
Discussion
Following some experimentation at Bloke Studios it became clear that holding an Elinchrom head a few inches off the floor was not as easy as first through. Normal lighting stand completely useless; Manrotto wall-mounted jobbie worked but very inflexible.
I'd like the head pretty much at floor level, and adjustable to any position. Any suggestions folks?

Don't know if this helps, but if it were me, I'd be trying to clamp a magic arm to the base of a regular lighting stand. If you hang the light in this way, you should be able to get it on the ground, more or less, and the magic arm is about as flexible as you can get.
It'd just be a matter of making sure the lighting stand is stable and doesn't want to fall over.
Any use to you?

Interetsing - but I'd like to have a small softbox on it as well, so any support really needs to be underneath rather than close to the side.
The camera tripod will go down flat but of course that has the camera on, and even then would need some kind of Manfrotto QR plate/spigot adpator.

I have to sit mine on a milk crate to get the height right when using it with a small softbox, but it works OK.

Thanks folks - the Manfrotto stand looks ideal. Alternatively, a smaller version of this:

What I want to do is throw light up towards a subject's face, so I'm pondering which method would be best suited. The studio floor is white, so maybe a normal light with snoot bouncing off the floor? Pros and cons?
(Ed - a free-standing boom would work but there isn't really room)
