I need to resize some images... they are of different dimensions.. but all need to be rezized the the same final size.

So to stop them looking distorted is there any thing our there that will center the images on a white background to create a final properly dimensioned object?

For example..

one image might be 320 x 400 another 400 x 320 and I need to resize them so a properly proportioned version sits in an image 125 by 125 with white space around the unused space.

Anyone got any ideas?

My punt - assuming Photoshop:

Open new canvas 125 x 125px
Open desired image. Select all (Ctrl/A), then 'copy', then click on the other window and paste image over new canvas. It will of course be too big. Ctrl/A to select large image, then Edit > Transform > Scale and drag to fit whilst holding Shift to maintian aspect ratio.

DOH! You said 'some'... inadequate brief - wasted time.

I have a batch image resizer but it only resizes to fixed pixel dimensions, so no use to you.

Still, if you start now you should be finished by February biggrin

I use Irfanview for this, shouldnt have any problems with the volume, just be aware of which ones are landscape and which ones are portrait orientation

www.irfanview.com

If you do download it (its free) remember to get the plug ins download as well

Rich,

I can probably knock up a Photoshop action which would do this... drop me a mail with your exact requirements (I'm buried in the LM email list somewhere).
