Looking form something a little wider than the 18 - 35 that came with my 30d. Don't want to pay fortunes as I'm only an occasional snapper but want a reasonable quality. Recently i found that 18mm really isn't wide enough.

Tokina 11-16mm f2.8
constant aperture, £400 from onestop digital. mine arrived today, and its fab.

try a converter lens if its only the odd shot, around £50, they screw into the end of prime lens

From what I've read it's soft wide open...
