I am looking to take a roadtrip soon (maybe do getcarters' Scottish route?) and wondered if anyone knew if there was anyone who hires (or even lends?)camera equipment?

Where are you, and what kind of equipment?

I am based near Warwick, thinking of an EOS300D - want to try it out before buying if possible. The trip is a 'reward' for working far too hard for a year!

You could try Calumet. They do 'try before buy' and have stores nationwide:

I'm up there from mid March - send us a mail if you're doing the west coast and I'll look out for you. Might even take a pic as you pass

spoke to them this morning - they do not rent the 300D as it has a plastic case and would get damaged too easy.

I'll keep on searching - perhaps I may just have to take the plunge and buy one!

You could always buy one and Ebay it afterwards

Try your library !
Don't know how common it is but the Aberdeen library has a selection of cameras including medium format stuff, digital stuff and slr's. You need to book in advance and leave them a deposit but it is a great way to try-before-you-buy.
They do lighting rigs and AV equipment too. Maybe your nearest (big) library can help out.

There is an advert in Photograhpy monthly or Digital Photographer (I get both so forget) offering Canon digital SLRs for rent.

If I remmeber I'll post the details.
Trouble is its a hectic day so I'll probably forget so best you nip down the newsagents and buy a copy of each (or sneak a read of it in the shop during your lunch hour!)
