Can't find the answer to this so sorry if it's obvious....

the vast majority of my images are not yet in collections. So, if I search for an image using the filters, say, by filename containing "butterfly" and I have the root level of my folders selected, Lightroom will display all the images in the catalog with "butterfly" in the filename. So far so good.

However, if I then click on one of the displayed images and I want Lightroom to tell me which folder it's stored in, how do I do that. I can do a "Show in Explorer" but that's no use as I would still have to make a note of which folder it's in, then navigate through the folders in lightroom to find it.

Is there a way that Lightroom can actually move to, or highlight, the folder for a selected image?

in the library view get the panel on the RHS to show metadata. Isn't the folder shown third in the list? It is in mine anyway! Clicking on the folder jumps the LHS library to go to that folder.

It is but that doesn't provide any mechanism to actually find the folder within lightroom without scrolling through hundreds of folders and hierarchies etc (most of my catalog comes from original disk filing structures so isn't exactly 'optimal' yet).

The method Ian described is exactly what I needed as it actually navigates to the folder where the image is stored without having to manually locate it from the file name.
