D50 - Problems

Took my Nikon D50 to Jeddah a few weeks back and the rapid change in temperature between hotel interior and exterior has caused a problem. It takes a few picture before freezing with the ERR message and the mirror half up.

Is this fixable? Anything I can do? (tried all the normal resets, etc)

Check there's no crap stuck on the filters past the mirror, I got overly aggressive with a rocket blower and caught one of them which had the same result. Twas a D80, new shutter and clean - £200 from Nikon
