What Compact digital up to £150

I've been asked to help pick a digital camera as a present so am looking for any sage advice that the PH massiv can give. It's been a long time since I bought a camera (Canon PowerShot S70 and a Nikon EM before that!) so am not up to speed with what's good or bad. If it's been done to death here I apologise in advance...

So, with a budget of up to £150 what is a good compact digital buy? The main requirements are good picture quality and reliability I suppose - the user will be a novice.

It's 10, so enough for most people
