Finally got the 300D and now I have the photographers equivalent of 'writers block'! It has been raining all day so I'm limited to chasing the cats around the house hoping for something interesting to happen.

:sigh: I have so much to learn, I can't help feeling that if this camera was a car, I'm currently at the stalling and setting of in first gear stage.

Right, back to RTFM

Close up shots of flowers in the house is always a good one, just find really random things to photograph, I did when I first got my camera.

Door handle from the other side of the room was an interesting one, experiment with lots of things

Happy Birthday by the way

Glad you got it and happy birthday (again!).

There was a fantastic sunset tonight. Wish I had my camera in the car on the way home. It was incredible, loads of bright lines.

Anyone in the south see it?

I know what you mean, winter sucks, but it's amazing what you can find indoors...

Happy Birthday btw.

I STRONGLY suggest you don't RTFM

... just charge the battery and take as many pics as you like. It's gotta' be fun first and techie second.

When you find that the results don't match the expectation... THAT'S when you should RTFM

IMHO

Happy Birthday Jo!!!

What pics have you taken so far?

Suggestions....some a bit sad, maybe not:

1. Slow flash (or auto night portrait) - on a running tap.
2. A lit candle (with the lights off)
3. Reflections from shiny objects.
4. Photo of a background through a glass tumbler to see the distortion effects.

LB - gets ready for a few "you really sad git" comments

Not sad Steve, look for updates to www.final-design.com shortly.*
I have a couple of shots from the garden last summer with candles/flares some including the moon too.

Well I like them.

A Sigma 105mm macro, 550ex flash and a 1D.

Didn't actually RTFM, did lots of this instead. Managed to take over 100 pics lastnight, mostly involving drunk Fish.

I can't get over the quality of the RAW images. Nothing worth sharing yet but I'm going to have a go at some of the things suggested earlier.

Nice spider!

Fecking hideous spider, not something I really want to be seeing in my delicate state. not that I saw much more than the legs before closing my eyes and scrolling down quickly
