been thinking about getting a macbook pro for a while. My brother has got one and I am really impressed with it, so this is a good excuse to get one.

wtf? Is there any reason not to buy their entire stock and put it on ebay? Isn't this about 1/4 RRP?

This has to be a mistake. I predict they wont honour this price, but good luck to anyone who has purchased!

Just found this on Google. They do international shipping too. I have no idea how reliable they are though.

In this case why not just pirate it for free?

There's no point in doing things half legally.

I was going to buy 30 of these off Amazon but a friend pointed out 2 things that should dissuade people:

1. Home users will warez it, while legit businesses are very unlikely to be buying from some half bit operation on ebay
2. No reason another CS version can't come out soon massively reducing the value
3. Legit, or described as legit, copies have been going for even less on ebay

E mail from them today stating that the item was incorrectly priced and they have cancelled my order. Oh well, such is life. Didn't think they could do that.

Actually, I don't think they can. Have you got a citizens advice bureau near you? Have a chat!

ETA... print out this thread, I'm sure we'll all back you up that we saw it at that price! And just in case the Mods decide it's not in Haymarket's best interest and delete this thread, (like they do) I've printed it out and will send.

In a shop they certainly don't have to honour the price, offering an item at a certain price is basically an "invitation to treat", i.e. they are inviting you to offer to buy that item at that price, which they can refuse to sell to you.

Online it's less clear - if they accepted your order and took your money then there is a contract in place. In all likelehood though, Amazon have eleventy billion back doors in the terms and conditions to allow them to get out of selling you anything at all.

Worth pursuing though, you could have CS4 and a Mac for less than the normal price of CS4 alone!

Good luck!

There is a clause is Amazon's T&C that says they don't have to honour a lower price, but it only applies to products sold by Amazon, not other sellers.

If you have a child at school whats wrong with buying it from the discount site? My kids use my MAC and my PC, ( my 8 year old has a better grasp of powerpoint than I have ) so I didnt think twice about using the schools program for purchasing Office 2007 for a pitance. My OH also works in the education sector so she qualified for a discount from Apple when i bought my MAC too.. Kerrrr-Ching!!

Nothing so long as you use it in accordance with its licence, which in that case means your kid using it for school (and primary age kids aren't allowed it iirc). If you use it outside of its licence then frankly you're a retard as you might as well have just got the pirated version... same legality.
