Discussion
Hello,
i have a canon f1 1978, it was brought new by dad but he cant remember which model it is as he owns 30 odd cameras which i found in the atic and have adopted. has the original strap and leather case, and also the original 50mm FD 1:1.4 lens
i think its the F1n but am not 100%
i have attached a photo.
any ideas on value? i found similar on ebay at £800, is that right?

Hmmmm looks like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Canon-F1-35mm-Body-and-Power...
£82 as I type. BUt I never 'did' Canon, so it might be worth a trip to the local camera specialst (NOT jessops!)
Old SLRs are worth bugger all TBH, decent lenses still attract some attention.

They do - some of them will convert via an adaptor to a micro 4/3rds, although that brings some other challenges. Some FD lenses will also covert to EOS (though manual focus) - depends on the lens as to how much adaptation is needed.£82 as I type. If it was bought new in 1978, it's an F1n. If there's a film reminder holder (rectangular frame) on the back, it's an 'n', if there isn't, it isn't. The New F1 is an entirely different camera.koolchris99 said:

I suspect you found a New F1 with a desirable lens. Even in mint in box condition an F1(n) would be very lucky to reach half that.If they selling on ebay for GBP 200, most you're likely to get on tade-in is GBP 100, I mean what dealer will want a film camera from 1978, who is going to buy it now?
I would not bother and would keep it. The F1 was the Canon pro workhorse of it's day. Take it out every now and then and run a roll of film through it.
