Help me choose!
Discussion
1 is an absolute definite for me. Great facial expression, looking into the camera and perfectly sharp eyes.
I also like 2, but it's a shame the eyes are so black. If you've got the original in RAW, could you try re-processing it with an emphasis on the eyes, then layer it in to give more detail there?
6 also has lots of potential I think, but maybe crop it in somewhat and consider cloning out the extraneous lemur in the background?
The tiger I think is a perfect example of why you need to get the eyes sharp! I reckon the focus point is just a little bit too far down the nose, which is a shame as it's a stunning shot.

Thanks all for your help

It's for an amateur photo competition at Edinburgh Zoo - my first competition!
Now to choose the final 3 and get them sent...

Interesting - because you could either choose (A) a perfectly exposed, technically correct shot of an animal just standing there, or (B) a less than technically perfect photo of an animal doing something interesting and/or difficult to photograph. Not being a judge I can't tell you which is more likely to succeed! Now to choose the final 3 and get them sent...

Why not both??
Every time I think I know what I'm doing, I go out for another session and find lots more mistakes to learn from

From my recent photography, I have learned that I worry too much about noise and not enough about shutter speed!
I usually try to stick to ISO 100 or 200/400 when I really need it... But the owl shot above (IMO technically the best one, just not so interesting) was shot at ISO 800, and I lost some really good poses in the set because of motion blur.

I think 'noise' has become such an issue because every other facet of DSLRs is so good - it's the only thing left for people to moan about.rasputin said:

ISO 800 would normally give you less motion blur... but I like your idea of choosing both my earlier options!NB Looks like your whites are a bit blue - are you processing with Daz?
