Hi All

As above really, does anyone know of any places with a Canon 1D MKIIn for sale? Not too worried whether its a dealer or private sale.

I've found one at Ffordes but I want one in as close to new condition as possible really.

I'm in no hurry to buy so can bide my time so if anyone has one they are going to sell at some point please let me know.

Cheers

I could sell you a couple 1D Mk2's, I have recently moved up to a 1Ds mk3, The only difference between the 1D Mk2 and the 1D Mk2n is the size of the screen on the back, I find the earlier camera screen are better for seeing what you get as a true presentation.

Drop me an email if you are interested. I am Based in Birmingham

Try SRS Microsystems in Watford or Chiswick Camera Exchange. Both often have some high end kit and both can are really good places. If they have one, then you should be able to count on their descriptions if you need it sent to you.

I am seeing a mate tomorrow night who has just bought the newest version so I can see if he is selling his old one, but knowing him, I suspect not. Let me know if you want me to ask though.

Hiya, if you could ask that would be fantastic. I wouldnt blame him at all for hanging onto it though. I have a 1D MKI which I've had for years and it certainly wont be going anywhere even when I have a MKII

Very good question.

Have been seriously considering a 7D but just the extra build quality is a key consideration and the main reason for sticking to a 1. I dont actually need the extra pixels becasue I've been very happy with my 1D MKI, the only reason for wanting an upgrage is for better ISO performance at the 800 mark or so.

I've been using a 1 Series for years now and would like to stick with 1's if at all possible. If the MKIII's were down to better money I'd probably be buying one of those.

Edited to add the 1.3x crop of the 1 Series is also a key factor for me, I do use a wide angle a lot so with the 1.6x crop on the 7D I'd end up having to buy another new lens as well.

I haven't looked at the details on the 7D yet, but for those in the know, is the AF system as good as the 1D series camera's ?

Also I have a little used (5k actuations) 1D markII if anybody is interested, no idea what they are worth these days so any indication would be helpful also.

Hiya

The AF system on the 7D is a 19 point crosshair arrangement where the 1 Series camera uses a 45 point arrangement. I'm not sure how many of those points are crosshair.

Without having a play with a 7D I dont know how it would compare to a 1 Series. I've always preferred the 1 Series to any other of tha Canon models. The AF points cover a very large area of viewfinder on a 1 Series which is what I need. Always found with the other models you'd sometimes find a small subject falling inbetween AF points.

As for your MKII I may be interested but I'm trying to hang out for an 'N' version. Depends how much you'd want for it.

7D AF is 19 point. Outer points are f5.6 sensitive cross type whilst the centre poiint is f2.8 dual cross type.

It's also the first non 1 series to have a seperate AF processor.

I thought the 5D had a separate AF processor.

Don't really know what they are worth these days, I guess I was thinking in the region of £800

About right +/- 50 quid depending on condition.
