AHHHH Another lens question.

Ok i have 200 squid to spend on a new lens, whats it to be? For a canon 1000d.
I was going to wait for a 100mm canon macro but as i'm on holiday fairly soon i can't wait. I'm wondering if the canon 55-250 would be a good companion to my kit lens? Any advice would be great, or if anyone knows of a good Macro for the £200 mark that would be great.

Apparently the Canon 55-250 is quite good for the price. I've never used it.
I don't think you can get a proper macro lens for £200 new. I bought my Sigma 105mm for £150 second hand and I think it is very good for macro photography. I wouldn't recommend it for other sorts of photography though because the autofocusing is poor.
A telephoto zoom and a macro lens do quite different jobs; you need to decide which one you want more.
