Simple one:

Could anyone reccommend a decent negative and transparency scanner? Budget around £100 maximum.

Cheers,

Don't have one myself, but from everything I've read, you're not going to get very good quality for £100.

Thanks for that. I'll probably get them done somewhere.

Bit late to this but I've been on holiday.

I paid £70 second hand for a flatbed epson, purchased from a pro who had used it for commercial work for the likes of Peter Werth, so you can easily get good enough quality for under £100.

Subsequently you can then sell it on and probably recoup your entire costs.

Yep - will do transparencies or negatives, and it has various attachments for 35mm or 120 film. It can do insane DPI levels generating files 100s of MBs in size.

I don't bother with the attachments, I just drop the transparency straight onto the flatbed and scan. But then I'm scanning stuff from a Holga so it really doesn't need the specific accuracy that you get from the film holder. Plus I like all the film bits to show around the edges!

This is a year newer than mine, same model range; if you wait till the last minute you might just grab a real bargain.

There is a locking mechanism on the side of mine (perfection 3200) make sure if this has one the seller locks the mechanism before sending it to you, otherwise it will get damaged. In addition, make sure you unlock it before you use it!

Good luck!

Edit to add - if you do buy one, make sure it's a model that has the light in the lid - this is needed to scan film.
