Thank you Olympus!

OK, so it hasn't got a viewfinder (EVF wouldof been nice for live-view), but at that size and weight, I'll let it go. What an awesome piece of kit...

EVF = Electronic ViewFinder... Woulda made it just that little bit better.
Sounds horrible to me - you have to look at the telly through a small hole?I can understand live view on compacts (because there's no other option), and an optical viewfinder on DSLRs (infinite resolution, infinite refresh rate, ie real). I'm not sure of the rationale behind anything in the middle - ah, maybe for bright days when you can't see the monitor very well?

I was looking forward to this but at about £700 and no viewfinder - No thank you (the optional hot-shoe mounted optical finder doesn't work with the kit zoom lens).
£700? It's $749USD, so i'd expect something a bit cheaper.http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/16/olympus-e-p1-di...
That could be a perfect carry round camera for when you don't want to lug the whole SLR kit around. That with the little 17mm f2.8 pancake lens (34mm equivalent field of view) could be a great slip into the pocket kind of camera.
Definitley going to check this out as a possible replacement for the aging compact we have as our carry round.
Olympus may just have boxed very clever as it's not much of a move from someone used to a compact and yet if they decide to go full SLR then any lenses they buy will work with the Olympus SLRs. Of course you get the advantages and disadvantages of 4/3 but this may be a very clever move.
