If there is already a thread on this -- then don't shoot me - shoot the PH search.....

My Nikon D70s needs a clean -- I'm not really about to have a go at this myself so:

How much will it cost?
Is it done while you wait?
Any recommendations in the Black Country or N Worcs area?

Mine cost £35 and took around an hour

Can recommend Lehmanns in Stoke, but might be a little far for you

I've said it before and I'll say it again ... 10 quids worth of rocket blower is all I've ever needed.

I've had dust that a rocket blower doesnt shift, and there's sometimes crap that gets between the filters that you cant really get with a blower.

whilst I'm quite happy to have a go at most things technical --- I'd really like this camera to have a thorough clean --- it's a few years old and has been left in cruddy environments

I think if you want a thorough system clean - more than a sensor de-dusting - you should consider one of the officially approved service centres. They may be a little distant but are likely worth the effort.

I've had great service from Lehmann's before so I am happy to suggest them. Other may be as good but having no direct experience I can't comment. Beyond that try and find a traditional local camera outlet run by someone who has a passion for the medium. Unless they are into only MF, in which case their experience with cleaning digital sensors may be limited so greater care may be required to ascertain that they are the right sort of person/people to do the job.

I've been quoted £20 plus VAT

What questions should I be asking about how it will be done!?
