Hi all,

Recently took the plunge and bought my first DSLR, a Nikon D60.

Amongst the numerous extra bits I feel I ought to be buying is a protector for the LCD screen.

I can't see one specifically for the D60 on Nikon's website, though there are numerous fairly generic looking products on eBay listed as fitting that model.

Couple of questions really: -

Firstly is it generally worth getting one in the first place?

Secondly can anyone recommend a good one to fit the D60?

Thanks

Both my D70S and D200 came with a genuine Nikon protector, do you not have these ?

I've found that the plastic self-adhesive film protection for PDA screens (cut down to size, obviously) works well and is a LOT cheaper.

Looks like the D60 doesn't come with one:

'We're once again happy to see that there's no silly snap-on screen protector in the Nikon D60's box. They fog up, add two extra surfaces to reflect glare, and just bug us. We're told the screen cover is good for protecting the screen from shirt button scratches. Our usual nylon buttons don't mar anything, but we suppose harder buttons might. To this day, however, we've never even seen a scratched LCD display on an SLR; so just be aware, use the care you should with your delicate photographic tool, and you should be able to maintain a scratch-free LCD cover glass with little trouble.'
Evidently it's a 'Marmite' thing. I do occasionally have to remove mine to dust the inner surface, but other then that it works perfectly well and have no problems with it on D70/200/300.

Fits perfectly, a little fiddly to apply.

Thanks all. I have some film ones knocking around from a now-defunct PDA so it sounds like they will do nicely
