Final set. I was going to include Auckland here but I've no truly good photos from there, so just the scenery here.

Full set (~100) can be seen here: http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m54/martin-w/Ho...

First sight of Doubtful Sound

Rather windy... (sadly didn't get a good photo of it raining 'up' off one of the cliffs!)

OK, a little PS here...

...and the following morning brought this

Coromandel peninsula:

Hahei beach

Now that's dramatic, just crop out the boat:

Like you I avoided the crush on Milford Sound and chose Doubtful instead. IIRC for every 100 people that visit Milford, only one vists Doubtful. Bloody cold, bloody windy and raining too! The swell from the Tasman Sea was quite alarming towards the end.

Let me guess - you then went into Manapouri Power Staion to warm up, only to find there were no toilets...?

ETA: Remember what I said about everyone getting the same shots? I have the same waterfall!

What crazy way of grouping pics! biggrin

Been to Doubtful (and the powerstation), ace! Done a small boat tour much better than Real journey pensioner/coach tour thing. Great pics!

Havnt done Coromandel yet keep meaning to plan a week up there at some point.

Chronological. wink

Doubtful - the small boats weren't running when we went.

Coromandel - pretty, twisty, beachy!

Simpo - cheers, was trying to frame it but it probably doesn't need it.

Fiordland: Bloomin' marvellous.

We did Milford Sound. To avoid the crush we did a night tour where they head down the sound to the sea, then stop overnight just inside, heading back early in the morning. So you get to see a chunk of the sound with no other boats on it.

Nice shots.
