I have a Samsung Omnia phone and was playing with the various options on the camera whilst on holiday (the smile recognition has kept me amused for nearly an hour). I noticed an option called "GPS" and it shows a satellite logo when pressed on the camera.

I know the phone has GPS for Google maps but what does this option actually do when enables using the camera?

I've had a quick search on Google but can't find anything.

It'll geotag your pictures. I.e. when you take a photo, your current GPS location will be written to the exif info. Sites like Picasa and Flickr and so on can read that info and mark the position on a map.

I'm amazed at the technology of these camera phones redface

So in theory, the next time I get too drunk I could just take a photo and send it to the OH and she could come and find me biggrin
